On 13 May 2026, Energy Efficiency for Europe, together with the OpenBEP4EU project and other EU-funded initiatives, will host the hybrid event “Supporting EPBD implementation: Practical solutions developed by EU-funded initiatives” in Brussels and online, in cooperation with DG ENER and CINEA of the European Commission.

Taking place just ahead of the 29 May transposition deadline, our co-organised event will focus on how the requirements of the Energy Performance of Buildings Directive (EPBD) are being implemented across Member States.

Bringing together representatives from the European Commission, EU-funded projects and practitioners, the discussion will explore the tools, governance structures, data systems and investment frameworks needed to turn policy requirements into practical results on the ground.

The programme is organised around three sessions:

  • Session 1: “The EPBD implementation system: Policy, market uptake, digitalisation and finance.”
  • Session 2: “Tracking implementation and enabling delivery: evidence, observatories and policy support.”
  • Session 3: “From standards and building performance frameworks to practical implementation: tools, methods and collaborative solutions.”

Energy Efficiency for Europe’s Head of Policy, Eline Blanchard, will participate in the panel discussion of the first session, which will examine how policy, market uptake, digitalisation and investment conditions interact with tools such as building stock data, Energy Performance Certificates (EPCs) and the Smart Readiness Indicator (SRI) to support effective implementation.

At a moment when delivery is of critical importance, the event will showcase how EU-funded initiatives are helping bridge the gap between policy ambition and operational reality, providing practical solutions to support the implementation of the EPBD across Europe.
